ArtReach's 2025 Community Arts Programming Grant is now open! 💸📝 This grant supports community-based arts programming by and for artists aged 13-29 from equity-deserving populations in Toronto who experience systemic barriers to accessing professional arts opportunities. These grants are available each year thanks to our amazing partnership with the Toronto Arts Council. Learn more about this partnership here . The programs we fund must… Be coordinated and delivered by individual artists 13-29 or groups/ organizations/ collectives led by people 13-29 from equity-deserving communities Be offered to participants aged 13-29 from equity-deserving communities who face systemic barriers to accessing high-quality arts opportunities Be a program and not a project (see our FAQs for more info) Be delivered in Toronto, by a Toronto-based applicant, for participants in Toronto (this includes only the City of Toronto, Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke, not the GTA) Be free for participants to access Be first and foremost focused on the arts and artistic skill-building (other benefits/ focuses must be secondary to a focus on the arts) Be registration-based and serve the same group of participants throughout its duration We don’t fund… Drop-in style programming Events, festivals, etc. Personal projects Art therapy programs Programs whose primary activities are religious or political HOW TO APPLY: Head to artreach.org/programgrant to read our Program Guidelines and FAQs, confirm your eligibility, and access the application package. TAC ACCESSIBILITY GRANT: Projects involving Deaf artists and artists with disabilities may apply for an additional TAC grant to cover accessibility-related expenses. A TAC Accessibility grant will provide up to an additional $5,000 per project towards accessibility costs for artists incurred during the project. Toronto Arts Foundation is seeking nominations for eight awards! The awards spotlight and celebrate artists, arts organizations and individuals – from emerging artists to established cultural leaders – who make Toronto better through the arts. Toronto Arts Foundation Awards are presented to artists, cultural leaders and businesses in recognition of artistic excellence, cultural leadership and contribution to the arts. Nominations for all the awards listed below close on November 25, 2024 Arts for Youth Award: Celebrating youth engagement through the arts!A $20,000 cash prize, with finalists receiving $2,000 each. The award celebrates an individual, collective or organization that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to engaging Toronto’s youth through the arts. Click here to read the full eligibility guidelines! Breakthrough Artist Award: A $10,000 cash prize, with finalists receiving $2,000 each. The award celebrates the accomplishments and future potential of an emerging Toronto artist working in any discipline, and is intended to support the development or completion of new work. Established in 2006 as the Emerging Artist Award, it was renamed the Breakthrough Artist Award in 2021 and the age restriction for finalists was removed. Learn more here! Breakthrough Jazz Artist Award : A $10,000 cash prize with finalists receiving $2,000 each. The award celebrates either an outstanding Toronto-based jazz artist with two to seven years of experience in the field, or an artist who previously devoted their career to supporting other artists and are now able to focus on their own solo work. The intention of this award is to further the career of a breakthrough jazz artist. Examples of how this award could support career advancement include, but are not limited to professional development, projects, or marketing/promotion. Established in 2014 as the Emerging Jazz Artist Award, it was renamed the Breakthrough Jazz Artist Award in 2024 and the age restriction was eliminated in recognition that many artists embark on their jazz career at various points in their life. Read the full eligibility guidelines here! Che Kothari Artist & Instigator Award: A $10,000 cash prize, with finalists receiving $1,000 each. The award supports and encourages a young BIPOC artist who is recognized for their artistic contributions and is making positive change through cultural leadership. Whether through starting a movement, creating an arts hub, collective, or organization, or through mentorship, events, or other creative activities, the recipient of the award must make an impact on people and/or the community through the arts beyond their artistic practice. Artists aged 18-35 working in any artistic discipline are eligible to receive the award. Learn more here! Community Arts Award: A $10,000 cash prize, with finalists receiving $1,000 each. The award celebrates an individual artist or arts organization or collective that has made a significant contribution in Toronto by working with, in and for communities, while increasing access to arts and culture. Established in 2013 as the Diversity Award, it was renamed the Community Arts Award in 2018. Award eligibility rotates from individuals to organizations or collectives in alternating prize years. Indigenous Artist Award : A $20,000 cash prize which celebrates an Indigenous artist or artist collective that has made a recognized contribution to the creative cultural life of Toronto. This program supports professional Ontario-based visual artists to create new work. The program aims to reflect the range of artistic practices in the visual arts, and to support excellence, regional activity, diverse artists and communities. The program has three categories, based on years of professional practice and public presentation of work: Emerging artists Mid-career artists Established artists Deadline Date November 5, 2024, 1 p.m. ET Grant Amount: Emerging: $5,000 Mid-Career: $7,500 Established: $15,000 Learn more about the grant here! ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS professional emerging, mid-career and established visual artists who are Ontario residents Established: artists with an extensive body of work and with history of national and international exhibitions and/or those who have achieved a wide degree of recognition. You must have been practicing professionally for at least 15 years (meaning public presentation of your work) to apply to this category Mid-career: artists whose professional careers have passed the early stages, who have produced a reasonable body of work and have attained a fair degree of public exposure. You must have been practicing professionally for at least 8 years (meaning public presentation of your work) to apply to this category Emerging: artists in the early years of their professional careers who have a small exhibition record. You must have been practicing professionally for at least three years (meaning public presentation of your work) to apply to this category artists working in collaboration If you create work in collaboration with one or more artist(s), all of the collaborative team members must meet program and category eligibility criteria. Select one artist to apply on behalf of the group. If a grant is awarded, this lead applicant will receive a T4A and will take responsibility for the final report. Describe the collaboration in your artist’s statement and submit artistic examples showing past collaborative work. If you are part of a collaborative team application, you may not apply as an individual artist to the Visual Artists Creation Projects program at the same deadline. If awarded a collaborative team grant, members must skip a year before reapplying to the program. WHAT THIS PROGRAM FUNDS the time and materials needed to create new work for the project(s) described in your application. Eligible expenses include: material and supplies, production costs studio space or equipment rental purchase of small-scale equipment, software, electronics and similar materials required to carry out the project artist fees – payment to yourself or other artists engaged in creating the work. Artist fees should be calculated based on time or contribution to the project and/or relevant industry standards. - LEARN MORE ABOUT the Black Arts Projects Program grant!
What does this program support? The Black Arts Projects Program provides support to individual artists, artist collectives of 2 or more Black artists working on a non-profit basis and incorporated non-profit Toronto Black arts organizations. This grant supports arts projects by Black artists, Black artist collectives, and Black-led, Black-focused and Black-serving organizations and is intended to support the development, continuation, and flourishing of Black arts communities. This program is multidisciplinary and recognizes a diversity of art practice, including new and emerging art forms, culturally relevant art practices, and multi/ interdisciplinary arts projects. Applicants can apply for projects that engage one or multiple arts disciplines. Applicants may apply in one of two categories described below : 1. Creation & Development: Supports full creation, partial creation, or completion of work-in-progress of an arts-based project at any stage and in any arts discipline. Project activities may include artistic creation in one or more stages of a project, including an arts education project (i.e., workshop(s)). This may also include OR solely focus on the beginning stage of research and development. Open to individual artists and artist collectives Maximum grant in this category is $10,000 Maximum grant in this category including a mentorship component is $15,000 Expenses can include: Artistic, production and administrative fees and costs, including venue, publicity, marketing and outreach; Fees paid to collaborators, mentors and creative resources; Studio costs, materials and production elements that are essential to creation; Rental of space or software to conduct research interviews; accessing support materials, i.e., archives; Visiting sites of significance. 2. Presentation: supports exhibition, presentation, and dissemination of work by Black artists in any arts discipline Open to individual artists, artist collectives and arts organizations (this component does not fund creation of works meant for presentation); Activities may include a series or one-off exhibition, festival, or presentation in one or more arts disciplines and/ dissemination of existing work; This component does not fund workshops and conferences; Maximum grant in this category is $15,000; Maximum grant in this category including a mentorship component is $20,000; Expenses can include: Artistic, presentation, exhibition and administrative fees and costs, including installation, rehearsal, venue, and production; Dissemination costs including publicity, marketing and outreach; Fees paid to collaborators and mentors. Additional resources for project grant recipients include: i. Mentorship – mentorship for project grant recipients interested in connecting with artists that can support them in building or acquiring skill sets to develop their art practice. A mentorship option will be available in each project grant category and applicants will be asked to indicate which mentor(s) they would like to work with and provide rationale for the mentorship. An additional budget of up to $5000 is available as compensation for mentors and mentees. ii. Arts Career Development - drop-in workshops focused on growing and establishing art practice. Project grant recipients may request and select sessions that are of benefit to them. iii. Black Futures Studios Co-Creation Lab - access to a multidisciplinary co-creation lab for artists to collaborate, meet, and exchange ideas. Do you have a passion for improving your community? Are you a youth-led group (ages 15-29) with a great idea that needs funding? Consider applying for a grant to help make an impact in your community. The purpose of the Identify ‘N Impact Grant Program is to: Help promote youth engagement and community safety in the City of Toronto Support youth to turn ideas into action Support emerging (new, small, grassroots) youth-led groups and collaborative youth-led networks Motivate and encourage Most Vulnerable People (MVP) youth to become involved in their communities All funded projects must work towards advancing one or more of the following priorities to be eligible to apply: Community safety and violence prevention Civic engagement* Mental health and wellbeing Skills development Increasing access to educational attainment Youth friendly spaces Arts *Note: Political activity is not eligible for funding. Civic education, leadership and volunteer training, advocacy on youth issues and policy changes are eligible activities. Groups can apply for up to $17,000 in project funding for youth to lead and deliver projects up to one year in length. Additionally, accessibility costs for deaf and/or people living with disabilities: Up to $2,000 in additional funds may be made available to support youth leaders and members of youth-led groups or participants who are deaf and/or living with disabilities lead and/or participate in your INI project. Toronto Arts Council has a variety of grants due August 1st, 2024 . Learn more about each grant below and click on the links to see the program guidelines and apply! Creative Communities Projects - This program provides funding to Toronto based professional artists, artist collectives and non-profit organizations to pursue one-time or time-limited arts projects that enable public participation and engagement in arts and culture. Creative Communities projects create a powerful sense of inclusion, understanding and the possibility of self-expression among participants. Projects can involve one or more art practices, such as music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and storytelling, but the collaborative involvement of professional artists with community members is required. Music Projects - This program provides funding to professional, non-profit music organizations and collectives to pursue one-time or time-limited music projects involving production, presentation, dissemination and/or other activities that contribute to the development of music in Toronto. The maximum grant available in this program is $15,000. The TAC Music Projects program will fund up to 50% of the project budget. The budget must indicate a range of revenue sources, which may include donated goods and services. Expenses can include: artist fees, production and technical fees, marketing and outreach costs, administrative costs, etc. Click here to read the program guidelines! Dance Projects - This program provides funding to professional dance artists, organizations and collectives for the creation, production and presentation of dance works, and other projects that support the development of professional dance in Toronto. The program recognizes a diversity of dance practice. You may apply in one of four categories: Creation, Production and Presentation, Dance Series and Festivals, or Dance Field Development. Visual/ Media Arts Presentation - This program provides funding to professional, non-profit Toronto visual arts/media arts organizations, collectives, curators or programmers to pursue one-time or time-limited projects involving the exhibition or distribution of contemporary visual or media arts and/or other activities that contribute to the development of the visual arts/media arts in Toronto (for example residencies, artists workshops).
